Blunker: A Bold, Unapologetic Display Font
Designer Notes You’ll Actually Use
- Test Blunker in black and white first—no color tricks hiding awkward spacing or uneven weight distribution.
- Check readability at 12pt on a printed mockup—not just on screen. Some glyphs tighten unexpectedly in ink spread.
- Compare uppercase vs. lowercase in context: the lowercase has more breathing room and subtle variation; don’t default to all-caps unless hierarchy demands it.
- Review letterfit manually. Auto-kerning often leaves gaps around ‘T’, ‘L’, and ‘F’. Tighten those by 5–10 units for print-ready precision.
- Try it beside four core type categories: a sturdy serif font (for contrast), a neutral sans serif font (for balance), a restrained script font (for texture), and one other display font (to confirm it stands apart—not blends in).
- Confirm commercial licensing before any client deliverable. Blunker is a premium font—you need explicit rights for resale assets, digital products, or merchandise. Don’t assume a personal license covers your Etsy shop or Canva template store.
